Andrew Cuomo’s campaign cried “dirty tricks” yesterday after Carl Paladino, who earlier this year admitted forwarding racist e-mails to friends, released a videotape supposedly showing a Cuomo supporter using the N-word.

A Cuomo campaign source blamed self-described Republican dirty-trickster Roger Stone, once an operative for Richard Nixon, and his protégé, Michael Caputo, for what the source claimed appeared to be doctored audio.

“We think the person on the video was actually using the word ‘Niagara’ and it was altered,” said the Cuomo campaign source.

The alleged use of the N-word occurred during a confrontation in Niagara Falls between Cuomo supporters and a Paladino activist dressed up to look like a duck.

Several individuals holding Cuomo signs are seen surrounding the “duck,” a prop used by Republican Paladino to highlight the Democratic attorney general’s refusal to hold a one-on-one debate. But the audio is difficult to understand.
