Mike wants to term back time

Mayor Bloomberg is going back to the future when it comes to term limits.

The mayor disclosed for the first time yesterday that he’s going to vote “yes” on the Nov. 2 ballot proposal to restore term limits to a maximum of two terms, replacing the three terms that took effect in 2009 after he and the City Council revised the law amid an outcry from good-government groups.

Anyone now in office won’t be affected because the Charter Revision Commission rejected the mayor’s attempt to institute the two-term limit for current incumbents.

And that’s apparently still gnawing at Bloomberg.

“I’m voting to restore,” he said.

“It’s not the bill that I wanted . . . But it’s better than what we have now.”

There’s a good chance some voters will skip the issue entirely because it appears on the other side of the election ballot.

Board of Elections officials said poll workers would be instructed to let voters know that the ballot has two sides — but won’t specifically mention the proposal.
