Belle of ‘Beverly’

Reality-tv stardom came just in time for Camille Grammer, the soon-to-be ex-wife of Kelsey.

The breakout star of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is getting herself known — separate and apart from her famous husband — as the star of “Frasier” establishes himseld in New York with a new girlfriend, 26 years younger than him.

It wasn’t just a coincidence, it seems.

“Looking back, maybe he wanted to keep me preoccupied in California while he was off having his affair in New York,” Camille told The Post this week.

“I really didn’t want to do the show,” she said. “I think it was more Kelsey’s agenda. I was very reluctant, because I am a very private person.”

Stories differ on this point.

Sources familiar with the show tell The Post that it was Camille — not Kelsey — who first called producers about getting into the cast.

After seeing the first few episodes of the “RHBH,” as the shorthand goes, Camille has made herself the wife to keep an eye on.

Like Teresa Giudice on “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” Camille has become a lightning rod for drama on the show.

“I’m no table flipper,” she says. “I am more calm and collected in my fights.”

Camille has her own style.

On the show, she brags about flying in private jets and employing four nannies for her two school-age children.

But tomorrow night, things heat up when she gets into a nasty spat with fellow “Housewife” Kyle Richards, a former child star and Paris Hilton’s aunt.

“I really had to hold back a lot,” she says. “I was married to Kelsey at the time, and I really had to be conscientious of what I was saying and putting out there.”

“With Kyle and I, it was hard because we were getting into some heated arguments and I couldn’t really respond the way I normally would have.”

The feud will continue through several more episodes, including one where the women travel to the Longacre Theatre on Broadway for opening night of Kelsey’s show, “La Cage Aux Folles.”

“Those times were difficult because my marriage was falling apart and I had to deal with the cattiness of the women on the show,” says Camille, who intends to keep her husband’s name after the divorce is finalized.

She also hopes to someday repair the damage with her husband of 13 years.

“He was my best friend,” she says. “I hope when the dust settles we can remain friends. I also would like to continue to work with my husband. I think he is a very talented man.

“I don’t respect what he did to me and my family. I am not happy with the way it went down. When I signed on, I didn’t think I would be going through a divorce in the middle of shooting a reality show.”

But Camille hasn’t ruled out taking another turn in front of the camera — perhaps in her own post-divorce spin-off.

“They haven’t approached me with that, but I would definitely think about it,” she says. “It might be a possibility.”
