Today is — nationally and locally — one of the more pivotal Election Days in recent memory. Polls in New York are open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Below is a summary of The Post’s endorsements.
GOVERNOR: Andrew Cuomo.
COMPTROLLER: Harry Wilson.
ATTORNEY GENERAL: Dan Donovan.
US SENATE, NY: Joe DioGuardi.
US SENATE, Conn.: Linda McMahon.
US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES: One-party control of Washington has brought bigger government, increased spending, higher taxes — and a recession without end.
New York can help the GOP take control of the House by sending six well-qualified Republicans to Washington:
* 1st Congressional District, Suffolk County: Randy Altschuler.
* 13th CD, Staten Island/Brooklyn: Michael Grimm.
* 19th CD, Hudson Valley: Nan Hayworth.
* 20th CD, Poughkeepsie/Saratoga: Chris Gibson.
* 23rd CD, North Country: Matt Doheny.
* 29th CD, Allegany/Corning/Elmira: Tom Reed.
NY STATE SENATE: The Senate under its present leadership is a political and moral cesspool. Voters can help remedy this by supporting these candidates:
* 3rd Senate District, Suffolk: Lee Zeldin.
* 6th SD, Nassau: Sen. Kemp Hannon.
* 7th SD, Nassau: Sen. Craig Johnson.
* 11th SD, Queens: Sen. Frank Padavan.
* 15th SD, Queens: Anthony Como.
* 35th SD, Westchester: Liam McLaughlin.
* 37th SD, Westchester: Bob Cohen.
* 38th SD, Orange/Westchester: Scott Vanderhoef.
* 40th SD, Dutchess/Putnam/Westchester: Greg Ball.
* 41st SD, Dutchess/Columbia: Sen. Steve Saland.
