‘Dancing With the Stars’ switches things up to win viewers

“Dancing With the Stars” is doing all it can to shake things up this season in an effort to win back viewers.

On Monday night, that included the show’s first-ever “Switch-Up” — with each celebrity hoofer forced to swap dancing partners.

“It was fun to work with a new pro because each pro will give you something so valuable to take away,” says contestant Candace Cameron Bure, who traded partner Mark Ballas for Tony Dovolani.

“They’re all so different in their styles and teaching techniques.

“Working with someone else really expanded my knowledge for dancing, so it was a fun week to have.”

The former “Full House” star and Dovolani received a score of 28 — the lowest of the night — for their punk-rock-styled quickstep, which drew some tough criticism from guest judge Julianne Hough.

“I didn’t realize what a tough judge she was,” Bure tells The Post. “I was definitely disappointed with my scores.

“A lot of people felt the same way, including some of the other dancers that were saying they kind of got low-balled … I’m just really hoping that I get the fan vote that will push me through another week.”

But the Switch-Up failed to goose the ABC reality show’s ratings, which on Monday fell to a season-low in the under-50 demo (2.1 rating) but still averaged a solid 13.9 million viewers opposite the NCAA Championship on CBS.

However, Bure — who is a married mother of three kids — is excited for next week, when she will reunite with regular partner Ballas for a Disney-themed number, though being at the bottom of the leaderboard does make her nervous for her future on the show.

“I won’t be surprised if I’m the one that goes home next week. I really don’t want that to happen,” she says. “I’m absolutely having the time of my life. I really hope we have a few more hours.”

But before facing her fate on “DWTS,” Bure will be getting some face time on another ABC series — “The Neighbors.” She’s guest-starring in the season finale of the family sitcom this Friday, reuniting with her “Full House” co-star Scott Weinger (who is a writer-producer on “The Neighbors”).

The two — who played high school sweethearts DJ Tanner and Steve Hale on “Full House” — will make a brief cameo at the end of the episode as a married couple moving into the neighborhood that just happens to be populated by aliens.

“It was so fun,” Bure says of her on-screen reunion with Weinger. “In the scene that we’re in, we’re pulling up in a moving truck and the second we sat in there, we looked at each other and said this feels exactly like the episode when DJ and Steve were in a cement truck making out and cement poured through the kitchen window.”

And while the two aren’t technically reprising their “Full House” roles in “The Neighbors,” its cliffhanger ending (the show is not yet renewed for next season) means Bure could be back for a potential third season.

“It’s kind of open-ended. We don’t really know. [Our characters] don’t have any names,” Bure teases.

“We don’t know what could be in store if they get that pickup; there could be more to it.”
