Giants report card: What happened to the offense?

OFFENSE

Hmm, let’s see. Eli Manning did NOT throw an interception on 26 of his 31 passes.

Is that good? Dreadful does not do justice to this abomination.

Manning (career-high five INTs) was terrible. No running game (25 rushing yards). Line play at times was amateurish. Hakeem Nicks targeted five times, one reception, four interceptions. Glittering 1-for-10 on third down.

Need we go on?

DEFENSE

Did enough to keep the team competitive. Solid work vs. Marshawn Lynch (16 carries, 47 yards, 1 TD). Four sacks and one Antrel Rolle INT of Russell Wilson, who passed for 206 yards, ran for 50 and was solid, but not a killer. Allowing 327 total yards is certainly acceptable and very good on third down as Seahawks converted only 3-of-13.

Grade: B

SPECIAL TEAMS

Big day for Steve Weatherford, who dropped two punts down inside the 20. Jerrel Jernigan had a 31-yard kickoff return, Jayron Hosley had a nice tackle in punt coverage. Golden Tate did have a 22-yard punt return, though.

COACHING

Tom Coughlin said during the week he saw no hint of a total offensive meltdown. Now he has to worry about his team going in the tank these last two games. Whatever Kevin Gilbride dialed up with his play calls turned out to be the wrong number. Perry Fewell’s defense didn’t give up the fight.
