Woman sexually abused during massage in spa: lawsuit

A day meant to be filled with serenity and relaxation turned into a nightmare for a Long Island woman who says she was sexually assaulted at a lower Manhattan luxury spa.

The 22-year-old student was undergoing a 90-minute massage last April at The Setai Club & Spa on Broad Street when the therapist “fondled and touched [her] in private and inappropriate areas of her body,” including her genitals, according to a lawsuit filed last week against the spa.

The $285 “Setai Sierra Body Renewal” treatment was a birthday gift.

The massage therapist, Jason Turner of Shirley, LI, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse in the alleged molestation, according to the victim’s Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

The woman, whose name is being withheld by The Post, charges in court papers the spa “assaulted and humiliated” her, failed to protect her and should have known Turner was “unsuited, ill-equipped, incapable and unqualified to perform duties as a provider of spa services.”

She is seeking unspecified damages. The spa did not return messages seeking comment.

Turner wouldn’t comment on the suit or the sex-assault allegations, but told The Post the criminal charges against him had been dropped.
