Whitney lends two paintings to White House

The Whitney Museum of American Art says two Edward Hopper paintings from its collection have been loaned to the White House.

The museum said Tuesday that the works were installed in the Oval Office last week.

The paintings are “Burly Cobb’s House, South Truro” and “Cobb’s Barns, South Truro.”

Hopper painted them between 1930 and 1933 when he spent time in South Truro on Cape Cod.

Hopper is known for the oil paintings he made of scenes from rural and urban life.

The Whitney’s collection includes more than 2,500 of Hopper’s works, including paintings, drawings, watercolors and prints.t time in South Truro on Cape Cod.
