POLICE: DEADLY STABBING AT MANHATTAN NIGHTCLUB

NEW YORK — Police are investigating a deadly stabbing early Friday in the downtown Manhattan nightclub, Duvet.

They say a wounded, 25-year-old man staggered out of the club on West 21st Street just after 3:30 a.m., encountering officers who had been called there for an unrelated reason. Wounded in the torso, he died on arrival at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

His identity hasn’t been released, and no arrests have been made.

Police couldn’t confirm the club’s name early Friday. A man who answered the telephone at a nightspot listed at the same address said he had no information about the reported stabbing.

Nightclub safety has drawn attention in New York since several slayings involving patrons or bouncers last year. The City Council passed a measure this year that requires security cameras at nightclub doors.
