STIMULUS SPENDING

The $150 billion economic stimulus package just passed by Congress is doomed to fail – if Mark Jahannessen can help it.

Jahannessen, the president of the Denver-based Financial Planning Association (FPA), feels over-indebted Americans should take the money and pay some bills.

“It is strangely ironic that Washington is telling Americans to go out and spend to help save our troubled economy,” he said. According to a TurboTax survey, 43 percent of taxpayers use the stimulus to reduce their red ink, 19 percent will save it and 38 percent will spend it.
