BROTHERLY LOVE COSTS CITY WORKER

It sometimes pays to have relatives on the city payroll.

A former assistant supervisor in the city’s Office of Payroll Administration altered records to lower the amount of money garnisheed from the paycheck of her brother, also a city worker.

Kieche Winfield, who worked in the office from 1997 until August 2008, admitted rigging the Garnishment Information System to reduce the withdrawal from the biweekly checks, the Conflicts of Interest Board reported yesterday.

Winfield, who admitted she started altering the amount in October 2005, has agreed to pay a $2,000 fine.
