WATT’S THAT? A ‘PEA’ GREEN ECO-AUTO

Here’s a car even Mother Earth could love.

It’s the tiny Peapod, an electric-powered vehicle that has a top speed of 25 mph, using so little energy that it costs just 2 cents a mile to drive.

And if that’s not enough to make you run out and hug a tree, consider that the four-seat vehicle is made almost exclusively of recycled material.

The Peapod even supplies its own smile — a front grille that looks like a broad grin.

Chrysler’s entry into the ultra-mini market will hit the streets this fall. But the Peapod has been tooling around Manhattan this week as the beleaguered automaker drums up publicity.

The Peapod, which will cost $12,500, is also the first car to have a built-in iPod docking station. Tom Topousis
