Authorities looking into alleged bribery schemes in the construction industry raided one of the city’s biggest housing developers yesterday, sources said.
At 7 a.m., representatives of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD and the city Department of Investigation showed up unannounced at the SoHo offices of the Atlantic Development Group.
At 5 p.m., they loaded a van with boxes of records taken from the firm, which has developed more than 20 projects here.
Sources said the investigators were looking into such alleged bribery tactics as using expediters to pay off city officials to move projects along, or bribing construction companies to use nonunion, cheaper labor.
So far, police have executed 12 search warrants in the probe, which could involve a half-dozen companies, the sources said.
