DA ADMITS WITHHOLDING DEUTSCHE BANK NOTES

Prosecutors yesterday admitted they erred by not turning over more than 100 pages of notes that could potentially help three construction supervisors charged in the deaths of two firefighters at the Deutsche Bank building.

The notes detail what workers said after a section of standpipe was cut in the 9/11-damaged building, depriving the firefighters of water during an August 2007 inferno.

Prosecutors have always said that cost-cutting during the building’s demolition left the standpipe inoperable in the fall of 2006. But in newly revealed notes, workers said the pipe was still operable in December 2006.

Patrick Dugan, the DA’s investigations chief, said the notes would not affect the grand jury’s indictment.
