Network nixes ‘V’ sky stunt

Spraying giant “V”s in the sky to promote a TV show might not have been the best strategy.

ABC has shelved plans to hire skywriters to spray giant red “V”s above cities to promote their upcoming show about an alien invasion.

Originally, they were planning on targeting 26 major sites stretching from the Statue of Liberty to Santa Monica Pier, but this may have been too freaky for people living in scary times.

A Washington Post columnist also estimated the PR stunt would spew three tons of carbon dioxide and 800 grams of lead into the atmosphere, causing an environmental hazard.

A spokesperson for ABC said that the network wanted to “spend the money in other ways.”

“V” will premiere Nov. 3, with four episodes to air in November and four more to air in March.
