Smith has fodder for Eagles ears

Eagles bulletin board, meet Steve Smith.

It’s not as if Smith was trashing the Eagles’ experienced cornerback tandem of Sheldon Brown and Asante Samuel, but yesterday the Giants’ third-year receiver did point out a weakness he believes he can exploit Sunday at Lincoln Field.

“They’re good, two savvy guys,” Smith said. “I think sometimes they get caught with their eyes in the backfield. You can run right by ’em sometimes. We’re not going to be surprised if we’re wide-open down the field on a play. There’s going to be a few plays where you’re going to be wide-open, and you just got to make the play.”

EAGLES’ WESTBROOK GAME-TIME DECISION

RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot, ankle) did not practice, which is nothing new, but he wasn’t even on the scene. He went to Charlotte to have his right foot and ankle examined.

Most surprising was the absence of TE Kevin Boss on the injury report. Boss absorbed a huge hit from safety Antrel Rolle in last Sunday’s loss to the Cards.

RT Kareem McKenzie missed last week’s game because of a strained groin muscle, but it looks as if it will only be a one-week absence. He took half the practice snaps.

CB Kevin Dockery missed practice for personal reasons. Also out were LB Michael Boley (knee), DT Chris Canty (calf) and CB Aaron Ross (hamstring). All did some running on the sideline. None will play this week.

Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb says he has no regrets for picking up the phone on the Giants bench in the closing minutes of last year’s playoff victory. Asked if there actually was anyone on the other end of the line when he picked up the phone, McNabb said, “Verizon wasn’t working. There was nothing over there.”
