Cops arrest fake UPS deliveryman

Cops have busted a career criminal suspected in seven home-invasion robberies across Manhattan, including two in which he posed as a UPS deliveryman, The Post has learned.

The man, identified as 52-year-old William Rodriguez, tied up his victims in at least four of the attacks and made off with cash, jewels and electronics during the spree, which began on Oct. 8, when he broke into an apartment on Fifth Avenue and Ninth Street and overpowered a 53-year-old nanny.

Rodriguez has 17 prior arrests, including one in 1988 for attempting to shoot a NYPD officer, police said.

Rodriguez was picked out of a photo lineup by one of the victims, sources said.

Cops said Rodriguez also struck on Oct. 16, when he forced his way into the Bank Street home of a woman in her eighties; on Oct. 25, when he busted into the home of two women who found him when they returned; last Thursday, when he robbed a Bank Street brownstone while posing as a deliveryman; and yesterday, when he pushed his way into the West 12th Street apartment of a 79-year-old woman.

Rodriguez was living in a Bronx hotel on Davidson Avenue when police arrested him.
