Queens principal fired for allegedly soliciting sex from students

The New York City Department of Education has fired a Queens principal after a special investigation alleged that he inappropriately touched male students and asked them for oral sex, officials said.

The department had suspended Quintin Cedeno in October from his job as principal of High School for Construction Trades, Engineering and Architecture in Ozone Park while the city’s Department of Investigation looked into the case.

Cedeno “solicited oral sex from at least four male students at that school,” according to a report by Special Commissioner of Investigation Richard Condon.

“The investigation also found that Cedeno inappropriately touched and attempted to touch those four students, and other male students as well, on their private areas. In addition, Principal Cedeno engaged in electronic communications and had inappropriate conversations with at least eight male students.”

Cedeno began working in the city’s public school system in 2003 as a math teacher. He became principal in 2007, according to Margie Feinberg, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education.

Condon forwarded the findings to Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown for a review by his staff for possible criminal charges.
