NY1 axes wife-beat reporter

NY1 has booted star political journalist Dominic Carter, who is due to be sentenced today in a Rockland County court for beating his wife.

Carter, who had been on leave from the cable news station since The Post revealed in October that his wife, Marilyn, had filed multiple complaints alleging physical and verbal abuse, is no longer employed by NY1, station spokeswoman Nikia Redhead said.

“Dominic’s contract expired during the period all this happened and was not renewed,” Redhead said.

The “Inside City Hall” host was convicted in November of attempted assault for an October 2008 incident in which Marilyn said he punched, kicked and choked her. He faces up to three months in jail.

Last week, cops launched a probe after Carter’s son told a high-school counselor he saw blood and a broken coat hanger in his sister’s room.

No charges were filed in that case, authorities said.
