Jets’ best chance: No INTs; stop Jackson; rush for 140 yards

If Mark Sanchez can go another game without throwing an interception, and Darrelle Revis can hold Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson to less than 30 yards, the Jets have a 50 percent chance of winning Sunday’s playoff game in San Diego, according to AccuScore.com.

The game-forecasting Web site says, “There is a 42 percent chance that Mark Sanchez has another game without an interception. If Sanchez has no INTs, the Jets improve their chances (to win) from 31 to 44 percent.”

Sanchez has not thrown an interception in eight games this season, and the Jets are 6-2 in those games, 4-0 in the most recent four.

The Web site says, “If Sanchez throws no INTs and Darrelle Revis can shut down Vincent Jackson and hold him to under 30 yards and no TDs, the Jets pull even with a 50 percent chance of winning.”

Jets running backs Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene are averaging a combined 125 yards rushing per game.

“If they are held to under this total, then San Diego is a heavy 84 percent favorite,” AccuScore predicts, “but if the Jets RBs rush for over 140 yards then (New York) is the 52 percent favorite.”
