Weasel John Edwards pops the question to Rielle Hunter: report

Disgraced former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards has reportedly proposed to his baby mama — and plans to buy a posh, $3.5 million beachfront home where they can live together.

Edwards popped the question last month at the same time he told his ex-mistress Rielle Hunter that he had issued a statement confirming that he indeed fathered her 2-year-old daughter Frances Quinn, The National Enquirer reported today.

Hunter said “yes” when Edwards asked here to be his bride, the newspaper reported.

An Edwards spokesman denied the report.

Edwards, 56, released the statement on Jan. 21 — and a week later later his cancer-stricken wife Elizabeth, 60, confirmed the couple had legally separated after 32 years of marriage.

The Enquirer reported that Edwards, who has three kids with his wife, is expect to be officially divorced later this year — “paving the way” for the ex-senator from North Carolina to make Hunter, 45, his wife.

“John dropped the proposal bomb on Rielle shortly before he issued his statement” that he was indeed Frances’ father, a close source told the newspaper.

“John knew Rielle had been waiting for a proposal for two long years. Since they’ve gotten involved, she’s followed every order he gave her, going on a cross-country cover-up, hiding away during her pregnancy and after giving birth for the sake of his presidential aspirations.”

This comes after Edwards’ former aide Andrew Young wrote a tell-all book, released two weeks ago, detailing the lawmaker’s affair with Hunter.

In a Fox News interview last week with conservative host Sean Hannity, Young said Edwards and Hunter were still an item.

“I don’t think he has,” Young said. “I think he’s very much still …”

“Probably even now?” asked Hannity.

“Yes,” replied Young, whose book, “The Politician,” details the sordid cover-up of Edwards’ affair with the former campaign videographer.
