Report: Osi sorry he told LeBron to stay home

Osi Umenyiora can’t seem to make up his mind.

Weeks after telling LeBron James the NBA star was better off in Cleveland than New York, the Giants defensive end last night told ESPN Radio he’d like to take it back.

“Oh man, I should have never had said that,” Umenyiora said, according to ESPN.com. “That was a big mistake. I want LeBron James to do what is best for him.”

Last month, Umenyiora wrote on his Playmaker Mobile blog, “I know New York would love to have him and I’m sure Knicks fans hope he comes. Personally, I think he should stay in Cleveland. They need him and he’s a Cleveland guy. It would be great to have him in New York but I think he should stay there. Ultimately, he has to make the decision that’s best for him and his family.”

Umenyiora also wrote how great New York is when you win, but how tough it can be when you lose.

This offseason, Umenyiora said he might retire if he wasn’t used as a starter by the Giants, and there were reports he could be traded, but now he’s saying he, too, is happy to be here.

“Yeah, I am going to be a New York Giant,” Umenyiora said, according to the report.
