Lady Gaga explains her Citi Field finger-flipping

Lady Gaga yesterday offered this passionate defense for flipping the bird at Met fans: It’s the New York thing to do.

“A middle finger is more New York than a corporate ambush,” the Manhattan native wrote on Twitter a day after creating a spectacle at Citi Field. “I bleed for my hometown, and I’d die for my fans.”

In a second tweet, she wrote, “I guess I’m just a Bronx cheer kind of girl.”

Meanwhile, the Mets admitted they struck out by moving Gaga, who had griped about her seats, to the empty luxury box owned by Jerry Seinfeld without consulting him.

“We deeply regret that Jerry Seinfeld has been associated with this matter and have apologized to him,” the team said.

A spokesman for Seinfeld and wife Jessica said, “The Seinfelds take an optimistic view of Lady Gaga’s gesture as a sign that she wants the Mets to be in first place as badly as they do.”
