Spidey is now a ‘Brit’ part

‘Ere comes the Spider-Man.

Andrew Garfield — a little-known actor from England — has been tapped to play New York’s favorite superhero in the next Spider-Man flick.

The 26-year-old actor — who appeared in last year’s Heath Ledger movie, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” — will take over from Tobey Maguire, who left the blockbuster franchise due to scheduling conflicts.

Also bowing out of the franchise is director Sam Raimi, who has been replaced by Marc Webb. The film is set to begin shooting at the end of the year and will land in theaters next summer.

Before comic-book fans start fuming that another undeniably American superhero is being played by a Brit — “Batman” Christian Bale is also English — it should be noted that Garfield was born in Los Angeles to an American dad and moved to England when he was 3.

However, he does speak with a British accent that rivals Harry Potter’s.
