‘Jelly’ rolled as office is burglarized!

JellyNYC may own summer in Williamsburg, but an enterprising thief now owns JellyNYC’s computer.

A burglar broke into the music promotion company’s new Devoe Street headquarters on July 21, stealing a work computer containing hundreds of valuable music and video files.

According to a police report, the thief likely climbed up the two-story building’s fire escape near Union Avenue after 3 am.

After entering Jelly’s second-floor office’s unlocked door, the thief grabbed three computers: a Macbook Pro, a laptop used by Jelly promoters, and an employee’s personal computer.

Jelly co-founder Alexander Kane lamented the loss of his work computer, calling its content “irreplaceable.”

“It’s not about the monetary loss,” said Kane. “Blood, sweat and tears are not easily quantified. There’s also the feeling of being violated when someone came into this space.”

The burglary occurred during the company’s most-frenetic work season, as promoters are busy organizing two concert series, the Pool Parties at the East River State Park off Kent Avenue and the Rock Yard, a vacant lot off Wythe Avenue which began two weeks ago.

Kane said that the theft would not deter the company from organizing the free festivals, though neither work computer has been recovered.

The burglary was only the beginning of a trying week for the company.

On Sunday, state parks officials abruptly canceled a highly anticipated free show headlined by Cap’n Jazz due to the threat of lightning, even though there was only rain in the forecast.

The show, planned for 10 months, was relocated to Brooklyn Bowl four blocks away, but several hundred fans were unable to fit into the venue, which quickly reached capacity.
