Garbage pickup won’t resume until Monday — at the earliest, officials said yesterday.
“I’m hoping on Monday we’ll be able to start some limited waste collection so people should be preparing for that,” said city Sanitiation Commissioner John Doherty.
The city hasn’t done garbage collection or street cleaning since Christmas Eve, as the department turned its focus to snow removal in the wake of Sunday’s blizzard.
“It’ll be the first Monday of the year,” Doherty said. “It has to [have time to] come back to its normal routine.”
