Brooklyn man with radio voice begs beside Ohio highway (video)

The best voice for broadcasting may not be even on the air.

This video gaining popularity online shows a man in Columbus, Ohio who begs for money with a sign saying he has a God-given gift of a great voice.

In an interview on the video from the Columbus Dispatch, he says he grew up in Brooklyn and at 14 went on a field trip to a local radio station. An on-air worker, who “looked nothing like he sounded,” told him radio is theater of the mind.

From that, “The voice just became something of a development over the years and I went to school for it,” the man with the voice says.

Alcohol and drugs derailed his chance at a career, he says, though he’s been sober for two years. Now he’s hoping for another shot.
