Kitty litter cat fight heads to court

The makers of Super Scoop kitty litter say a TV ad campaign trashing their product is full of it.

Church & Dwight Co. slapped Clorox with a false-advertising suit today for claiming that cats prefer its Fresh Step brand over Super Scoop.

The Manhattan federal court filing seeks an injunction blocking the Fresh Step commercials, which began airing last year, along with an order for “corrective advertising” and unspecified damages.

The ads show finicky felines rejecting litter boxes filled with Super Scoop in favor of Fresh Step, ostensibly because it “is better at eliminating odors.”

“But cats do not talk, and it is widely understood in the scientific community that cat perception of malodor is materially different than human perception,” the suit says.

Clorox declined to comment.
