Albany pols’ ‘crime wave’

ALBANY — A historic “crime wave” has decimated the state Legislature — with one out of every 11 lawmakers leaving office under a cloud over the last decade, an analysis has found.

The report by Citizens Union identified 13 lawmakers who either stepped down or got booted out in the last five years due to criminal or ethical issues.

Removals, resignations and rejections have increased at an alarming rate, with nine in the last four years.

“We are witnessing here in Albany a crime wave that has to be stopped,” Citizens Union Executive Director Dick Dadey said.
