The Subway Series is hardly a home run for many Big Apple baseball fans.
It’s a buyer’s market for this weekend’s Met-Yankee games in The Bronx, with a glut of tickets available through reselling sites.
By last night, the average asking price for a ticket this weekend was $101.23 on the secondary market, way down from the Yankee Stadium games in 2010 ($188.43) and 2011 ($107.89), according to TiqIQ.com, which tracks reselling trends.
“Although the Yankees and Mets have been hot at times this year, both teams are in transition, both muddling a little over .500,” said TiqIQ data director Chris Matcovich.
“The Yankees and Mets have been playing [interleague] since 1997, and fans have had so many years to watch this. At the end of the day, it’s just another regular- season game. This season is longer than just these six games.”
The Gotham teams renew their regular-season rivalry with a three-game set beginning at 7:05 tonight at Yankee Stadium.
At one point last night, StubHub listed 4,007 tickets available for tonight’s game, 6,214 for tomorrow and 4,509 for Sunday.
Tickets were as cheap as $35 for any of the three games.
Good 400-level seats for tonight, between the bases, generally went for $40 to $50 each.
