FCC ‘celling’ flight rules

Attention, Alec Baldwin — you may soon be able to play Words with Friends whenever you damn please.

The FCC has rushed to the aid of tech-loving fliers by asking the FAA to loosen its ban on using cellphones during takeoff and landing.

The head of the Federal Communications Commission, in a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration this week, wrote that smartphones “empower people” and can boost business.

This follows reports questioning the idea that mobile gadgets can endanger aircraft.
