A man carrying thousands of dollars worth of gift cards and forged credit cards was charged with bribery after a car he was riding in was pulled over for failing to signal a turn in East Flatbush, police said.
The suspect’s twin brother was slapped with the same charge when he later tried to free his brother with a bribe of $4,000, police said.
Jael Sanchez, 20, was riding in a 2014 Camry, with $24,000 worth of gift cards, 14 forged credit cards and a bag of marijuana around 1 a.m., Sunday, when the car he was in turned west onto Winthrop Street from East 51st Street, cops said.
Sgt. Daniel Casella and officers Piero Lasaponara and Adam Conlon pulled the driver over and caught Sanchez in the passenger seat allegedly trying to shove a bag of marijuana into his waistband. They ordered Sanchez out of the car and searched him to find the pot, along with 21 gift cards from Target and one Visa gift card with a total value of $24,000, police said.
When Sanchez got to the precinct, he allegedly offered $10,000 to cops, if they would return his illegal goods and let him go. He also called his twin brother, Jan Sanchez, who then showed up at the precinct with $4,000 in cash and also tried to bribe cops, officials said.
Both brothers were charged with bribery. Jael Sanchez was also charged with possession of pot and possession of a forged instrument.
