Private sector adds 139K jobs in February: ADP

Private-sector-employment gains slightly picked up in February, as employers added 139,000 jobs, ADP reported Wednesday.

Economists had forecast that private-sector hiring somewhat slowed down last month, with employers adding 160,000 jobs, compared with an originally estimated January increase of 175,000, according to a Dow Jones Newswires survey.

On Wednesday ADP revised January’s gain to 127,000 from 175,000. Economists polled by MarketWatch expect the government’s Friday jobs report to show that nonfarm employment rose by 143,000 jobs last month, up from a gain of 113,000 jobs in January.
