Woodson: Knicks star King deserved Hall ‘long time ago’

OKLAHOMA CITY — Knicks coach Mike Woodson was on hand the night team legend Bernard King tore up his knee. Woodson remembers the old King prior to knee surgery, and said he should have been in the Hall of Fame long ago. King officially will be named to the Hall today.

“He tore his knee against the Kansas City Kings when I was there,’’ Woodson said. “He was great, too, after he came back. Before he tore it up, he was just unbelievable, relentless. Nobody could stop him from scoring the basketball. He had the will and the knack to put the ball in the hole. He was hard-nosed, tough, mean, nasty.

“He should’ve been in the Hall a long time ago based on what he’s done. … I’m happy he’s in.He deserves to be there.’’
