Tragic tot’s ma in TV bit

Before they became the face of a family tragedy, Brooklyn mom Wendy McLein and then-unborn son Denim enjoyed some fleeting reality-TV fame.

McLein — who was struck by an out-of-control car that killed 2-year-old Denim last Sunday — once appeared in the TLC show “Cake Boss.”

Back in early 2011, McLein marched into Buddy Valastro’s Hoboken, NJ, bakery and ordered a cake for her baby shower that had to look like the jeans material.

Wearing head-to-toe denim, she announced that her son would be named Denim.

“I want a denim cake — my whole theme is denim,” said McLein. “Maybe the cake itself can look like it’s denim?”

Valastro was less than pleased with the order.

“Hey, don’t get me wrong, I like denim [the fabric] as much as the next guy. But it was a little extreme,” he said.

Valastro cut off the pant legs of an employee to help decorate the cake a faded, washed blue.

When they brought the finished product to McLein’s wedding shower, she broke down in tears.

“This is so me! Buddy, this is so me!” she said.

Sadly, little Denim didn’t have much of a chance to enjoy that episode, after passing away on Thursday.

McLein is still in a coma and doesn’t know Denim has died.
