Fans get trapped at the Belmont Racetrack

Thousands of hungry, angry fans spent four hours trying to crowd onto jammed LIRR trains and get cars out of parking lots after the big race at Belmont.

“They begged people to use public transportation, but they weren’t prepared,’’ said Post financial columnist John Crudele. A record number of riders used the LIRR.

Crudele lost his bet on the race, but managed to score “the last lobster sandwich after all the other vendors ran out of food.’’

Fans let Belmont have it.
