Snow leopard cubs debut at Central Park zoo

Two adorable snow leopard cubs made their public debuts at the Central Park Zoo on Monday.
The as-yet-unnamed brother and sister were the first snow leopards born at the zoo when they entered the world this summer. Their birth made first-time parents out of mom Zoe, 7, and dad Askai, 6.
The feline family resides at the zoo’s Allison Maher Stern Snow Leopard Exhibit, where the cubs are going to be on display between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily, officials said.
The endearing newborns each weigh about 30 pounds and should reach 65 pounds to 120 pounds by adulthood.
The majestic big cats are among the world’s most endangered species, with just 3,500 to 6,500 remaining in the wild, zoo officials said.

They’re native to remote mountains in China, Mongolia, Russia, India, Bhutan and also to various Central Asian regions.
