Lopez officially resigns from Assembly amid sexual harassment scandal

The louse is out of the house.

Pervy pol Vito Lopez has finally resigned his Assembly seat, effective Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Lopez sent a terse one-sentence letter of resignation today to Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver.

The Post exclusively reported today that Lopez intended to resign by Monday morning before he could be ousted, even though he released an official statement Friday saying his last day would be June 20.

Gov. Cuomo had threatened to kick the 71-year-old lawmaker out of office by Monday afternoon if he didn’t quit.

The shamed ex-Brooklyn Democratic boss was found by two investigations to have sexually harassed and abused a series of female staffers, demanding they wear sexy clothing, give him massages and stay in hotels with him overnight.

Silver also had insisted on Lopez’s quick expulsion to deflect attention away from his own efforts to suppress public knowledge of Lopez’s alleged deviant behavior.

The cancer-stricken Lopez has said he intends to run for City Council, but told The Post yesterday his plans could change after he gets the results of medical tests this week.
