SOFTBALL: Hofstra advances to title round

Senior Olivia Galati threw her second complete game of the day and third of the NCAA Columbia (Mo.) Regional while also hitting her first home run of the season as Hofstra hit three homers in the 10th inning in an 8-4 victory over Oregon State in an elimination game last night.

Earlier, Galati allowed just one unearned run while firing a one-hitter but the Pride fell to Missouri, 1-0.

Hofstra (45-12) and the Tigers are scheduled to meet in the championship round today at 2 p.m.

Also in Columbia, Stony Brook had its season come to an end with a 6-0 loss to Oregon State.

At the Norman Okla. Regional, Fordham’s season also came to an end after the Rams lost to Arkansas, 5-2. Earlier, Fordham defeated Marist 5-3.

NBA: Buzz is Bobcats will become Hornets

The Charlotte Bobcats are actively trying to change the franchise’s name back to the Hornets, according to reports.

Charlotte’s franchise bore the Hornets moniker for 14 seasons (1988-2002) until the team was moved to New Orleans. But with the New Orleans franchise changing its name to the Pelicans, the Hornets name is back in play.
