Baby’s body discovered at Westchester recycling plant

A dead baby was found at a recycling plant in Westchester Tuesday, police said.

The body was discovered by a worker at the Brookfield recycling plant in Elmsford at around 2 p.m., according to county police.

The employee pulled a plastic bag out of a machine at the cardboard-recycling facility and found the full-term baby inside, Police Capt. Christopher Calabrese said.

The gender of the baby was not released.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to determine the cause of death.

Police were treating the case as a homicide.
