A ‘Mother’ of a wedding is nearly over; ‘Psych’ bows out

The end times are upon us in the TV world:

“How I Met Your Mother” (Monday, 8 p.m., CBS): It’s the penultimate episode before the one-hour “How I Met Your Mother” series finale, where Ted (Josh Radnor) finally finishes telling his kids the never-ending story of how he met their mother. But before he can get to that, it looks like Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) may finally make it to the altar this week after the world’s longest wedding weekend (it started nearly two years ago).

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Tuesday, 9:30 p.m., Fox): In the first season finale of the best comedy of this season, Andy Samberg’s charming Jake pushes his luck a little too far on a case and ends up getting fired.

“Psych” (Wednesday, 9 p.m., USA): For a mystery series, this show’s finale sure doesn’t hold back on any of its secrets, revealing every emotion any of these wacky crime solvers were ever supposed to feel, as well as a few surprising discoveries. After eight seasons of the modestly funny detective duo, they’ve already run out of cases — although the musical episode earlier this year was a nice touch. But tune in for one final murder or two before Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) are forced to grow up — or not — followed by the “Psych After Show,” which features interviews with the cast and creator Steve Franks.

“Drop Dead Diva” (Sunday, 9 p.m., Lifetime): Entering her final season, the born-again model launches with a two-hour season premiere. We last left our body-swapper Deb (Brooke Elliott) finally looking forward to a happy ending with the fiancé she left behind when she died, Grayson (Jackson Hurst). But first she must tell him the truth about who she really is, and it isn’t the plus-size attorney she appears to be.

“Girls” (Sunday, 10 p.m., HBO): These young ladies climbed out of their sophomore slump to give us a much-improved third season, which wraps up with Hannah (Lena Dunham) receiving news that could change the direction of her career.

“Jeopardy!” (Weekdays, 7 p.m., Ch. 7): We’re quickly approaching the end of the entertaining “Battle of the Decades,” which this week launches the final round — the 2000s, or as it’s more widely known, the decade of Ken Jennings.
