Diner cook fighting for life after being gunned down while walking home from work

A hard-working restaurant employee is fighting for his life after being gunned down early this morning in Brooklyn, police sources said.

Guang Yang Chen, 62, was walking to his job at a 86 Fu Kee, a Chinese Restaurant on 86th Street in Bensonhurst at around 4:30 a.m. when a man approached him on Bay Parkway near 62nd Street and shot him multiple times — hitting him in the back and leg, police sources said.

The man was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition.

The victim was on his way to a bus stop when the gunman came up and tried to talk to him, sources said. The gunman then opened fire, police sources said.

Cops believe the incident might have been a robbery gone bad, sources said, although the victim was apparently in possession of his wallet and cell phone when he was found by authorities.

The victim could be heard begging for his life, shouting, “Oh no, oh no!,” according to ear witnesses.

“He’s a nice guy,” said nephew Wayne Chen, 20. “I don’t think he bothers anyone. I don’t really have any words to describe this. This never happened to me before.”

David Long, manager of 86 Fu Kee said Chen is a dedicated employee who always shows up to work early.

“The family called and told me he got shot and he’s in the hospital. I feel sad. I know him a long time and he’s a nice guy.”
