NFL: Brent fails another drug test

Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent has been jailed in North Texas after failing a second drug test.

Court records in Dallas County show Brent tested positive for marijuana after submitting to a urine test last week. The test result is a violation of bond conditions imposed after being charged late last year with intoxication manslaughter.

He’s being held without bond pending a court hearing scheduled for July 19.

Authorities said Brent was driving Dec. 8 when he wrecked, causing the death of Cowboys practice squad player Jerry Brown. They said Brent’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the limit of .08.

Ausar Walcott, a former rookie linebacker for the Browns, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges in Paterson, N.J.

Walcott, who was arraigned yesterday, is accused of punching Derek Jones in the side of the head outside The Palace Gentlemen’s Club in Passaic early Sunday.

A prosecutor said Jones is in a medically induced coma at a New York hospital, where he’s listed in critical condition.
