Watch Ron Burgundy recreate the best sports calls

NBC Sports Network’s “The Dan Patrick Show” welcomed a very special guest-host on Thursday — KVWN Channel 4 News anchor Ron Burgundy – as the “Anchorman 2” star continued his promotional blitz before the film’s Dec. 18 release.

In his two-hour appearance, Burgundy sang his own rendition of Patrick’s “Stat of the Day” theme song, posed some hard-hitting questions to new USC head football coach Steve Sarkisian, and gave NFL Network’s Rich Eisen some advice to spice up Thursday night’s dreadful Texans-Jaguars game (discuss grilled cheese).

He also recreated some of the great sports calls in history: Jack Buck’s famous call of Kirk Gibson’s home run against Dennis Eckersley at Dodger Stadium in Game 1 of the World Series in 1988, Dan Davis calling Doug Flutie’s Hail Mary pass in Boston College’s last second win over Miami in 1984, and Al Michaels on the final minute of the Miracle on Ice.

Burgundy was also set to appear on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” Thursday evening, but the network canceled that appearance because of potential news implications from the Florida State Attorney’s press conference on Thursday afternoon on the sexual assault allegations leveled at college quarterback Jameis Winston. The Heisman front-runner was cleared in the case.
