Scandals keep piling up while Obama blames GOP

The Issue: President Obama’s claim that “phony scandals” have distracted DC from the economy.

Jonah Goldberg, in his usual insightful style, reveals President Obama’s lack of character (“The Cynic-in-Chief,” PostOpinion, July 29).

Obama described tragedies like Benghazi and “Fast and Furious” — which cost the lives of brave Americans, causing unthinkable grief for their families — IRS’ targeting conservatives and NSA’s wiretapping as “phony scandals” and distractions from his own flawed agenda.

Frankly, this great nation deserves a better leader than someone who acts like a narcissistic child.

A new slogan for this administration could be: “You can’t prove that.”

When it comes to the IRS’ targeting, the coverup of the administration’s ineptness in Benghazi, spying on American journalists who dare not fall in lockstep with the mainstream media and the nefarious activities of “Fast and Furious,” the president declares that these are just “phony scandals.”

When you watch those who are called before Congress plead the Fifth, claim “I do not recall,” or “I do not have that information,” or worse, defiantly ask, “What does it matter?”, one might be reminded of the wrongdoers in old crime movies responding to accusers with: “You can’t prove that.”

Hopefully, Americans will soon be able to respond with: “Yes, we can.”

As an independent voter, I can’t understand how Democrats and Republicans can stand by and do nothing about a president who blatantly lies to the American people.

President Obama said he would get to the bottom of the Benghazi incident, but instead, his administration has blocked committees investigating it at every turn.

Instead of firing UN Ambassador Susan Rice, he promoted her. He said he would get to the bottom of the IRS incident, but top-level employees took the Fifth.

Obama had the gall to trivialize recent scandals, saying they were the reason the economy was so poor.

This act of disrespect for our dead and their grieving families should not be tolerated.

Obama has shown by deed that he can’t be trusted.
