‘Million’ join gun battle

Mothers and others fed up with gun violence marched across the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday to keep the pressure on Washington to pass tougher weapons laws.

The 200 or so demonstrators, organized by a new group called One Million Moms for Gun Control, came from as far away as Florida and Michigan.

But most were from the five boroughs — including some marchers who had lost friends and relatives to bullets.

“Three of my friends died last year,” said Taneika Howard, 16, of The Bronx, accompanied by two sisters, a brother and her mother.

“People be doing dumb stuff on the streets. Someone gets mad. They have a gun and — pop! — someone’s dead. It be that easy.”

One Million Moms was formed in response to the Newtown massacre.
