Suicidal mom tries to gas herself, child in apartment: court papers

A Midtown mom is accused of sealing her luxury apartment, turning on a gas oven and filling the home with deadly fumes in a sick bid to kill herself and her 3-year-old daughter, according to court papers.

Natalie Nicosia, 48, allegedly used cardboard boxes and masking tape to seal the door cracks in her high-rise pad at 301 W. 53th St. around 5 p.m. March 24, according to the criminal complaint.

When neighbors called cops to complain of a gas leak, the building’s super, Andrew Garcia, banged on Nicosia’s door for five minutes, but the disturbed woman, whose tot was inside the apartment with her, refused to open it, the documents state.

“It is OK, you don’t need to check,” the mom told Garcia, according to court papers.

Fearing that Nicosia passed out when she didn’t respond to him again, the super then called 911.

The FDNY responded and immediately turned off the stove and gas valve.

Nicosia is charged with felony reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment last Tuesday and faces seven years behind bars if convicted.

Nicosia’s lawyer did not immediately return messages for comment.
