LT: ‘Hall’ in on Giants’ Strahan

NEW ORLEANS — Legendary Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor is thrilled former coach Bill Parcells was voted into the Hall of Fame by the pro football writers, but cannot comprehend why fellow pass-rushing great Michael Strahan was snubbed.

Taylor, a first-ballot inductee in 1999, played under Parcells for eight seasons, and overlapped with Strahan on the Giants for one season in 1993.

“I don’t understand what the criteria is,” Taylor said. “How Michael isn’t a first-ballot guy is perplexing to me. He was one hell of a player, a complete player.

“Why are the guys with the pencils the ones determining this stuff? Let retired players and coaches vote. We played the game, we’re the ones who know who was a baller and who wasn’t.”

“I feel as bad for Michael as I did for Bill [last year] having to wait. Just really happy Bill finally got in, it was his time.”
