King-size revelation

LONDON — Scientists will announce today the results of tests to determine whether a battle-scarred skeleton found under a parking lot in Leicester, England, belongs to King Richard III.

The final resting place of the 15th-century king, immortalized by Shakespeare as a ruthless hunchback, has been unknown for centuries.

But last September, archaeologists dug up the skeleton of an adult male who apparently died in battle and displayed signs of scoliosis, a form of spinal curvature.

University of Leicester researchers have been conducting tests on the skeleton, including comparing its DNA with that of a 17th great-grandnephew of the king’s elder sister.
