‘Girls’ react to Kareem jab

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s surprising review of “Girls’”last week did not fall on deaf ears.

Lena Dunham, the show’s creator, says she read it — sort of — and won’t let it bother her. “I have to admit, I only skimmed it,” Dunham told E! Online in Hollywood over the weekend.

“It seemed like a mixed review, and I have a policy about not reading those.”

Abdul-Jabbar did not like Dunham’s casting of a black actor as her boyfriend because “it came across as forced.” Dunham was criticized last season for the show’s lack of diversity.

“[Abdul-Jabbar’s] review of ‘Girls’ was called to my attention on Twitter,” Dunham said. “And I blurted out to my dad, ‘Kareem Abdul-Jabbar reviewed ‘Girls.’ And he said, ‘I don’t even know how to process that. I don’t even know what that means.’ ”
